$73,200 for a newsstand copy in CGC 9.9, multiple $50,000+ modern books in a single auction, and the relentless chase for the gold label.
Following up on our breakdown of the recent Heritage Signature auction, we audit a side of the hobby that drives some collectors crazy and sends registry obsessives into a bidding frenzy: the Top 20 most valuable CGC 9.9 and 10.0 comic book sales of the Copper and Modern ages (1980–present).
Starting at the birth of the Direct Market in 1980—when comic shops began curating and bagging high-grade copies right out of the box—we compile and rank every verified public record for post-1980 books that achieved near-impossible Mint status.
