"This auction and several of my others this week are for items I thought I'd never sell……never is a long time. This auction is for an EXTREMELY RARE PLATINUM AGE KEY BOOK..THE 1ST COMIC BOOK FEATURING THE YELLOW KID !!!
found on page 380 of the Oversteet price guide issue #35. Also listed in Overstreet on page 133 as 4th on the top 10 Platinum Age comics list ( top 3 are Mickey Mouse).
1897 196 pages GW Dillingham Co. Apparent VF professionally restored by Matt Wilson of fantasy masterpieces. This book I bought "raw", and the choice for restoration was due to preservation…this book will now survive another 100+ years. Restoration includes: "remove old glue and binding, disassemble book and pages, clean cover and pages, replace missing pulp to cover to match as possible, minor color retouching to the cover, rebind pages and attach cover and press". The restoration certificate will be included. THIS BOOK IS FLAT, TIGHT, AND APPEARS VF WITH OFF-WHITE PAGES!
you will probably never see another one of these again, and this may be the nicest in existance. Appearance wise, I'm sure it is. This comic is historically important, and please look at pics carefully, and realize this squarebound is from 1897!
this is a SERIOUS, HIGH DOLLAR BOOK FOR SERIOUS INVESTORS..please don't bid unless you intend to follow thru. Auction rules are simple: check or money order within 7 days. checks will take 10 days to clear. Item will be very securely packaged, and sent Priority mail with full value insurance, signature required.

I've received a few emails regarding the restoration on this book, so here's some additional info:
most of the restoration was to reinforce/rebuild the spine. Both covers had at least 90% – 95% of their original pulp, and the areas added to were some of the very edges, and to square up some rounded corners. cleaning of the pages and covers was also done, which lightened/brightened eveything, but even before restoration the pages and covers were fairly nice, and had decent coloring. If it weren't for the absolutely neccessary spine reinforcement and rebinding, the book overall would have been a VG with cream pages.
please note that the work done was at the highest professional level possible, as it was done by Mathew Wilson….the undisputed #1 restorer of investment grade comics in the country…maybe the world"
