One of the most iconic images of Superman EVER, and I've had the privilege of owning it for the past 20 years. How about that!
This beautiful image of Superman is one of the most famous drawings in comic books in the past 40 years. The Superman face from this artwork even made it onto the cover of Superman: Cover to Cover, the recent coffee table book.
The page is free of all paste-ups. I have included a scan of the printed comic book cover to remind you of the photographic cityscape background, but that photo is not part of this auction.
There are some dabs of white-out on the page. In fact, the then-outdated 1960's DC logo is whited out in the upper left corner, and a Comics Code insignia is whited out in the upper right corner. In the margins there are directions to the production department about lettering and about the photo background. There are about ten pinpoint-sized brown spots, mostly near Superman's right forearm.
