Description:

Archie Comics #1 CGC 4.0 OW/W 1st Ms. Andrews 1st Teen Comic Bob Montana MLJ

Archie Andrews is one of the longest running and most important comic book characters of all-time. Unlike the Superhero genre, where there is debate and competition, there is no other teen humor character even close in significance. Archie Comics #1 is an important and highly desirable comic that features several Key firsts. Its the first appearance of Ms. Andrews (Archie's mother), the first time the Archie-Veronica relationship is explained in detail, and this book is the first comic entirely devoted to teens. This stunning copy was graded 4.0 because of the relatively small piece out of the back cover. One look at the front cover scan will tell you thius is no ordinary 4.0 copy. This example can easily pass for a 6.0 to 7.0 copy and even though it received OW/WHITE pages, looking at the book before submission made us think it should have received WHITE pages as the interior, both covers and pages were bone white. Archie Comics #1 is finally getting its due over the past couple of years and we think there is plenty of room to appreciate based on importnace and scarcity. Consider this, there are ONLY 27 copies of Archie #1 that have been certified as compared with 174 copies of Batman #1 and 96 copies of Superman #1. There are only 6 certified copies that have graded higher and probably no more than 3 of them can eqaul the cover appeal. The original owner title adds to the appeal considering this copy was just pulled from a box where it sat for the better part of 6 decades less than a week ago. We are certain this important and scarce piece of Americana will find a great home. Serial number 1097565014

I bet you thought I was going to lead with the Archie, didn't you. I love this book- tough to find, great cover and a great characters.

Archie #3 Scarce 1943

PGX 1.5 with tan pages… And now you know why I didn't lead with it! Of course, it'll still sell.

Daredevil #43 CGC 9.6 8/68 Silver Early Issue

One of my five favorite Daredevil books. I've got a nice 9.4, but this one is sweet :)

Spider-Man:Original art by Marko Djurdjevic

Just a crazy piece of art. Really cool.

SUPERMAN 30 Davis Crippen Pedigree Copy D 1944 Cgc 8.5

I've got a thing for yellow covered Superman books from the 1940s.

Some Highlights from the November 2010 ComicLink Auction

As a note, for me personally, this is one of the toughest auctions in recent memory in terms of knowing where to place my bids. I could probably bid on 50 books in this auction. I've got it narrowed down to probably six, but it's hard to choose.

Sigh.

Anyway, here are some other books that you should know about:

ARCHIE COMICS #1

Interested in an Archie #1? Just go all in right now. They're not going to get any cheaper. Go back in time and buy one five years ago.

And get a Pep #22 while you're at it.

Archie.

DAREDEVIL #1 NM+ 9.6 Curator

I'd like to see the 9.8, but… that sure is a pretty copy.

Based on the above listing the consignor of the Curator copy just got the 9.8. Upgrading from a 9.6, pedigree copy. How often does that happen?

Meanwhile… Pep 22 on eBay

This Pep 22 showed up on eBay last week and didn't really last very long before it became "unavailable."

It was a low feedback seller, with not a lot of detail about the restoration and it still sold within about 24 hours of the listing. To me, $15,000 was a bit of a gamble. Closer to $10,000 would have been a safer price. Still, its a rare book so if you'd been looking for a while it's a copy and sometimes that's all it takes to make a sale.
