Welcome back to the channel as we break down a monumental new auction from ComicConnect: a special-edition event featuring the near-complete original art runs for Amazing Spider-Man #96 and #97—penciled by the legendary Gil Kane and inked by John Romita Sr.
Published in 1971, these issues altered comic history forever. When the Comics Code Authority refused to approve Stan Lee's storyline addressing Harry Osborn’s drug addiction, Marvel ran the books anyway—marking the first time a mainstream superhero comic bypassed the Code since its 1954 inception.
Now, decades later, the bulk of the original art from both landmark issues has surfaced for public sale.
