ComicConnect March 2019 Event Auction

I've talked about my consignment in this auction (bid your butt off!) Now it's time to talk about the rest of the books in this auction.

Complete Centaur Collection

The write-up of the collection is really good, with a really good collection of scans. All I'll add is that I can't even imagine the difficulty of putting this run together. There will be serious bidding wars for some of the books in this auction.

MASK COMICS #1 CGC FN: 6.0

CAPTAIN AMERICA COMICS #1 CGC 7.0

This copy of CAPTAIN AMERICA COMICS #1 is already over $200,000 with a week to go. That seems strong against some previous results (a 7.5 for $250k, and 8.0 for $300k.) If you hada crystal ball 10 years ago, you could have made a mint buying copies of this book, as well as the Wonder Woman keys. These movie-driven golden age keys have been so strong over the past few years.

MYSTERY MEN COMICS #3 CGC VF-: 7.5

DETECTIVE COMICS #168 CGC G: 2.0

I had no idea this was a $2000+ book in low grade.

MIGHTY MOUSE #1 CGC NM+: 9.6

I don't think I've ever really looked at this book before, so this copy of MIGHTY MOUSE #1 CGC NM+ 9.6 is a real eye-opener.

ALL WINNERS COMICS #12 CGC NM 9.4 San Francisco

San Francisco books are incredible. This Alex Schomburg cover is incredible. This book is incredible. You have been warned.

Times have changed

This copy of ACTION COMICS (1938-2011) #7 CGC GD+ 2.5 with glue on the cover is at $71,000 right now.

This SUPERMAN #1 CGC FA/GD 1.5 is at $68,000+.

That's it for now. It's an interesting auction across the board. Even if they weren't my books it would be interesting to see how the concentrated run of Daredevil does (much like the Avengers run recently) and the full run of Centaur books is one of the most fascinating auctions to come along in some time. It may not be the biggest dollar set of books but the degree of difficulty is off the charts and I expect the results to show that. The assortment of lower grade keys is also worth watching. For example, while $71,000 is a lot of money for an Action #7, it's also a lot less money than the fat pile of cash you'd have to pay for a nice copy, so it will end up being many people's last chance to get the book before it gets too expensive. Same goes for many of the other lower grade Golden Age keys.

It ought to be fun.
