One of the Toughest Comics Books I've Ever Tried to Own in Grade, Acquired: Stormwatch #37 CGC 9.8

stormwatch-37

This book has taken me years to acquire. Of the top 10 copies in the census, I think I've graded six of them trying to get a 9.8 (three 9.4s, two 9.6s and this 9.8) and that doesn't take into account the countless raw copies I've owned (probably 25) to even get the 6 copies to send into CGC.

I also had a standing bounty of $300 for this book, not that it did me any good.

Chasing books like this (pre-CGC moderns) is actually pretty tough. I've graded a lot of books from the 1980s and 1990s and finding true 9.8s isn't as easy as people make it out to be. Sure, some titles exist in bulk, but not all of them. Even something like the Byrne Fantastic Four run is tough to source in truly unread condition.
