This Pep 22 showed up on eBay last week and didn't really last very long before it became "unavailable."
It was a low feedback seller, with not a lot of detail about the restoration and it still sold within about 24 hours of the listing. To me, $15,000 was a bit of a gamble. Closer to $10,000 would have been a safer price. Still, its a rare book so if you'd been looking for a while it's a copy and sometimes that's all it takes to make a sale.

I was considering making an offer (lower than 15K) but it was sold (presumably) while I was wrestling with the issues you mention. I am surprised that more copies of this book haven't been offered for sale recently given the increase in Archie prices the last year or so and the huge prices seen in Action 1 and Detective 27.

I just think the book is rare. There's really no other explanation that's as easy and jibe's with what I've seen as reality over the past 25 years. It's an undervalued, under-appreciated book, both for historic reasons and for the plain fact that it's rare as hen's teeth.
