Word on the street (okay, word on the internet) is that Comic Connect bought outright the 8.5 from its present and longtime owner. The price paid is reportedly more than the 1,075,000 paid for the Detective 27 at Heritage last month. It follows, therefore, that that asking price will be significantly higher than that. My estimate for the book after the recent sales was 1.5 million. We'll see how that number fares when it actually comes time for the book to change hands.
All I have to say is- what a month! My head is spinning.

Man this is BS, If the comic was available for sale than we would be told the day it goes for sale but there is no date, its a mystery. They never sell high end items this way. Last time they did was with the 8.0 and of course that was sold in 5 minutes because it was staged sale just like this one. Guarantee its already sold.
I ask to verify my self as bidder and got no response, when a buddy of mine bid for a AC #1 at the auction back in the day you had to verify and they called back asap because they wante'ed as many buyers as possible but not this time, they don't care cause they already got a buyer.
I don't understand, why not just say its sold, Why screw with those of who had interest but weren't given a shot to bid and why the heck doesn't anybody care, I'm sure any body whos involved the comic world knows this is sold? Why doesn't anybody give a crap?

they're clearly looking for maximum publicity value, so orchestrating the sales this way makes a lot of sense.
As for why people don't care, I'm not really sure about other people, but for me it's just a matter of understanding the above. And I want them to get maximum publicity.
that said, if people with legitimate interest in the books are getting shut out they need to rethink their process in a big way.
