A new official member of the $100,000 Club

Marvel Comics #1 Larson pedigree (Timely, 1939) CGC VF 8.0 Off-white to white pages sells for 101,575.00. Condition guide is $147,000.

The continued weak (relative) results of this book at auction make me want to rethink my valuation of the Church copy. I'm working on an articles about the top ten individual issues by value and I've been struggling with where to place that book. I know that the Church copy has a lot going for it and that there have been a lot of high grade copies of this book that have sold over the past few years weakening demand in a small market. I still have to wonder how much the Church copy would sell for, especially compared to the other books in my top ten like Superman #1, Detective #27 and Action #1. Those books (especially the big two) continually surprise on the high side (I'm looking right at you Mark). Marvel #1 is always coming in lower than it "should."

Off to think…
