"Up for sale in this auction is a Batman 1 CGC 8.0 with Off-White pages and Extensive Professional restoration. This comic will instantly become the centerpiece of anybody's collection!!! The CGC label reads "Color touch, pieces added, reinforcement, tear seals, cleaned." The CGC serial number is 0017204002. The CGC label also notes that the book has married pages. Despite being graded as having extensive restoration, this comic does not have the typical look of a heavily restored book. The restoration was done incredibly well and is not very easy to detect.
Batman #1 is full of comic book history! It contains the first appearance of the Joker, and the first appearance of Catwoman (the first villainess in comics). The comic also contains the origin of Batman as well as artwork by the legendary Bob Kane! For all these reasons, Overstreet has this comic listed as the 6th most valuable comic book ever published, with a top guide value of $150,000!
The last Extensively restored CGC 8.0 Batman 1 to sell at auction sold for $13,800 back in February 2005. Of course, since then the Batman movie was released and demand for all things Batman related has skyrocketed. (Just take a look at the Batman 1 CGC 9.0 sitting unsold on another website with a high bid of $240,000, and an asking price of $349,000!) With high grade Unrestored Batman 1s now selling for upwards of 6 figures, here is a chance to buy a high grade copy at a tiny fraction of the price!
