Here's the Description
"Captain America Comics #1 – Timely Publications – March 1941 in Very Fine condition, CGC graded as app. 8.0 with moderate restoration. Arguably the most patriotic superhero ever created, Captain America was a smash hit from the moment he made his first appearance in this issue along with his sidekick, Bucky. The first issue also introduced the Red Skull, who to this day remains the definitive nemesis of Captain America. This copy is in very fine condition with only minimal professional restoration. The restoration work was done by Mark and Matt Wilson shortly before I purchased the book in 1994. Restoration is limited to color retouch on the front and back covers, primarily limited to the upper cover edge where there has been minimal repair, cover cleaned and reinforced. The book has a narrow dust shadow along the upper border of the front cover which I chose not to have removed. The interior pages are off-white and supple. I am the third owner of this book and this is only the second time that it has been on the market. The dealer from whom I purchased the comic, obtained it from the estate of the original owner who had stored the book away for over 50 years.
I have placed a very modest reserve on this book. All bidders should have 10 or more positive eBay responses before bidding. Please feel free to email me with any further questions. I accept PayPal (for shipment to confirmed US address only), money orders, bank checks, and personal checks (which must clear before material is shipped). Payment must be received within 7 days of the auction's end. The book will be securely packed and sent by USPS.
I invite any interested bidders to consider that this is a book that has recently been graded by CGC. In the first 2 to 3 years of CGC grading, I found that the grade given to restored books more accurately reflected the appearance of these books. This is in contrast to the grades now given by CGC. This book can easily stand side by side with earlier graded 9.0’s and 8.5’s. In other words, I believe that non-restored 8.0’s I’ve seen do not come up to the standards of this book or other recently graded books with a restored grade. That’s my soap box statement of the day. I welcome your thoughts on the matter.
I’m always interested in hearing what Jack Kirby original art you may have for sale or trade. I would consider trading for original Jack Kirby art or partial cash and trade deals. Jack was and shall always remain the “King” of comics! "
