Here's the description:

"DETECTIVE COMICS No. 27
May 1939

Attributes:

o Detective Comics No. 27 introduces the Bat-Man and Commissioner Gordon in "The Case Of The Chemical Syndicate." The comic book features the Bat-Man on the cover and in the first feature story. While the Bat-Man's creation was motivated by the success of Superman comic books, he is a pre-Superman-type pulp hero. The Bat-Man is Bruce Wayne, the eccentric heir of a family fortune. The Bat-Man carries a pistol, drives a fast red car, is driven by a dark past to stop crime, and he allows the villian to die. The Bat-Man returns the reader to the days of Zorro (1912), The Shadow (1930), The Spider (1933), and The Phantom (1936).

o Detective Comics was launched in 1937 and has remained in continuous print since it's inception. It is the longest running comic book title in the world!

o The Bat-Man was created by William Finger and Robert Kane. In the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide the creators are listed in that order. Finger worked for DC for many years. He also worked for Marvel but returned to DC in the 1970s. He contributed emensely to the Bat-Man's design. Finger is credited for "de-Supermaning" the Bat-Man. Note the only remaining real similarities are the leotards, yellow symbol on the center of the chest, and the cape. Finger redesigned the Bat-Man to remove Kane's original red costume and inspired the bat-eared cowl (instead of a Spider/Phantom-style mask) and added other black bat touches to the character. Finger also helped create the characters and story lines for the Green Lantern, Captain America, Wonder Woman, Superboy, and the Flash as well as much of the Bat-Man's rouge gallery of villians. Bob Kane is credited with creating the Bat-Man. Being business savvy, Kane negotiated for "The Bat-Man by Bob Kane" written into the contact that sold the rights to "The Bat-Man" to D.C. Kane successfully profited off of his "Batman-creator" celebrity. He was a consultant in the 1989 "Batman" movie and gave the final nod to cast Michael Keaton. Though he did not make a cameo appearance in the movie, he did provide the reporter's Bat-Man drawling. William Finger passed in 1974 and Robert Kane passed in 1998.

o Detective Comics No. 27 is truly in limited number. Only 26 copies are certified by the CGC. Of those, 12, nearly half, have some degree of restoration. The exact number of Detective Comics No. 27 in existence is unknown. The common belief is less than 100 remain.

o Detective Comics No. 27 is one of the best values in comics. Sixty six years after it first hit the news stands, at $410,000.00, a high-grade copy of Detective Comics No. 27 receives the second highest price of any comic book in the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide. The Metropolis Index gives Detective Comics No. 27 an excellent Compound Annual Growth Rating of 14.14 percent which means this highly-sought-after comic book will nearly double in price in five years.

o Detective Comics No. 27 is rarely available for purchase. An opportunity to bid on the comic may only come around a few times a year and copies sale in the multiples of tens of thousands of dollars.

o This auction is for a Comics Guaranty, LLC encapsulated copy with certification number 0118834002. It receives a blue "Universal" grade of .5/Poor with the following comments: "COVERLESS, CREAM TO OFF-WHITE Pages." No signs of restoration were found by the CGC inspectors. This is a very nice, clean book. It has a 1-and-1/2 inch tear in the center bottom of the first page, and two small tears on the bottom of back. "
