AMAZING SPIDER-MAN COVER JOHN ROMITA 1973 SPIDERMAN

I actually watched that one go in practically real time. We were discussing it on the CGC forum when the BIN was popped (by a forumite.)

Seller:riv-65-gs ( 523) Final Tally: $9,600.00

Here's the Description:

"Up for auction is the original cover art to Amazing Spider-man # 132, penciled and inked by Spider-man master artist; John Romita Sr. Done in 1973, it is a beautiful example of Silver Age Spidey comic art by perhaps his greatest artist. Art features full body action shots of Spidey going up against the Molten Man, while the crumpled body of Ned Leeds lays at their feet, and horrified spectators gather in the street below. A masterpiece of lay out design by Romita. The art is on vellum, and does have correction where Romita moved the top of Spidey's body to fit below the header, and also moved leeds body in toward the center bottom. This correction shows up as a slight yellowing behind the vellum, but is not brittle and was PH tested as negative by conservator Matt Wilson of Fantasy Masterpieces, who determined that the color is simply due to the adhesive Romita used when making the corrections. This is a visually stunning piece of comic art with : attention to detail, texture, atmosphere, action and layout design that is not often accomplished, even by Romita. You can see how he must of agonized to get this one right, and he did. It is simply one of his best. Not many Silver Age Amazing covers out there in the market, how many were pencilled and inked by Romita ? This is your chance to own a spectacular one, sure to appreciate greatly in years to come."
