Top Individual Comics for 2005

I'm including OGNs in the list but excluding foreign material reprinted in 2005. So YES to Scott Pilgrim NO to BD and Manga (sorry Fullmetal Alchemist and Battle Royale.)

One thing that really was tough about this was choosing singles. Many of my favorite series aren't included here because no individual issues really stuck out- books like Conan, Captain America, Desolation Jones, Ex Machina, Fables, etc. are left hanging. Oh well.

1.We3 #3: My favorite mini of the decade so far ends on such a high note it's not even funny. I'm not sure what part of We3 I like more- the bleeding edge storytelling or the action packed yet heartfelt story. Whatever element wins out in the end the combination was just perfect.
2.Warren Ellis Quit City #1: I can't quite explain why I like this book so much, I jsut do. I think it was because I found the characters so familiar. Not familiar in a derivative way, familiar in that they seemed like people I could easily meet through a friend.
3.Wonder Woman #219: Truly surprising.
4.Ultimates 2 #9: Millar and Hitch are the best "popcorn comics" creators in American comics and this everything- but- the- kitchen- sink issue is the ultimate expression of their five hundred million dollar budget vision.
5.Scott Pilgrim vs. the world: The funnest comic ever.
7.Sleeper #12: One of my favorite series of the decade ends on a perfect note.
8.All Star Superman #1: Pitch perfect. It's this low only because it was an "intro" issue. This is simply Superman the way he's meant to be.
9. Ultimates 2 #5: Up until #9 came along this everyone vs Thor issue was my favorite issue of their run. Badass comics. Go Thor.
10. Fell #1: A great read and the price (and the intent behind the price) can't be beat.
