Batman #1 (1940) Beautiful Book, Pristine! High Grade!

Seller: the_marine ( 25) Final Tally: $7,600.00

Here's the Description:

"First of all, let me give a little background about the book: This Batman #1 has been owned by me since I was 15, I stumbled across it in my early stages of collecting, and I knew I just had to grab it. Ever since I have owned the book, I have taken the upmost great care of the book and have always stored it safely and properly in a cool, dry, climate controlled environment. It was a decision I made in the early part of 2000, and that was to get the book restored. It wasn't for resell purposes but for the conversation of such a masterpiece. From a conservation perspective, I believe I made the right long-term decision for this book. It came out perfect, better than I thought any book of 1940 could look with such little work. This book looks as if it were hot off the press, as when it was purchased in 1940. The pages are about an off-white, but I am no professional. Definitely unbelievable for a book 65 years old. It’s perfect as the centerpiece of any collection! This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for some lucky bidder and I wish all you the best of luck. Please don’t hesitate to email me with your questions. I am willing to provide all information you might need in order for you to be mesmerized as I was at this masterpiece. This is definitely the prize of my collection, and I can only hope someone will see it as their prize as well!

As you can see in the listing, the paperwork for restoration is provided. It was rated at a Slight/Moderate. The paperwork seems like more was done, but I was assured it wouldn't in anyway be rated more than Moderate. This copy is by far better than the currently listed CGC 3.0 with EXTENSIVE restoration.

***** THE RESTORATION PAPERWORK IS A LITTLE MISLEADING. THE BACK COVER IS NOT A REPRINT, RATHER IT IS INDEED AN ORIGINAL BATMAN #1 BACK COVER FROM 1940. *****

Questions from other members

Q: Hi, I see the paperwork scan, but can't read who the restorer was. Can you let me know who did the work? Thanks! Bob

A: The restorer was Tracy Heft, and he did one of the finest jobs I have ever seen!

Q: the resto says vintage back cover aquired, is that an original back cover from a Batman 1 ? If so you might want to let people know that. Thanks Marc …more
