Yeah, I spaced on this feature last Sunday. I was busy packing or something and then it just totally slipped my mind until now. Sorry!
BATMAN NO. 1 1940 SPRING ISSUE, SCARCE, DON'T MISS OUT!
Seller: obi6169 ( 1043) Final Tally: $11,867.00
"Here's the description (As a note the seller has "Right click disabled" in his auction- totally annoying and pointless.)
Yes It's Back! After fielding dozens of questions a couple of weeks ago, I was forced to pull the listing and send this Wonderful Old Book to CGC and have it graded. Now all relevant questions are likely answered, and it appears I did in fact "under grade" it the first time. Now it's back and Graded a Solid "4.0" Blue Label (Unrestored)! I have taken new photos above and scanned a close-up of the CGC label (the CGC mount is larger than my scanner). The comic is now and will remain in my safety deposit box until auction end.
I ask that the winning bidder contact me "through eBay" after auction end to arrange shipping details. Do Not Use Check-Out (Pay Now). After arrangements are made I will send the appropriate invoice. Insurance Will Be Required. Thank You.
Here is how I happened to aquire this Wonderful Old Book..
For your consideration, a most sought after, BATMAN 1940 No.1 Spring Issue!
What a GREAT find.. This Wonderful old book was destined to be found. You see, the auctioneer explained that he was very excited to obtain this old estate filled with all sorts of collectables from the 30's, 40's and 50's. He was even more excited in discussing the some 25 boxes full of Life Magazines from the 30's and 40's. However while sorting through the Lifes to put in date order, up pops the BATMAN. That's right had he not taken the time to sort the Life magazines this wonderful old comic would have simply slipped through the cracks. All of the magazines were stored in the attic of a small old Peoria home, for who knows how many years and secretly buried in and amongst them BATMAN! Well, needless to say there were those of us in the crowd that were equally "wired-up" over this incredible find 🙂 The bidding was strong and I just had to buy it! 🙂 and Now it could be yours..
Have Fun 🙂 Bidding and Winning!"
One note, if you look at his original auction, he graded it VG- to VG, so he didn't undergrade at all. He just doesn't understand the numerical grading scale as he said the equivalent numerical grade for his VG was 3.
