The Second City Avengers Run Made Nearly $480,000 at ComicConnect

I mentioned the Avengers run from the Second City Collection in the run-up to the recent ComicConnect event auction. It really reminded me of an even higher quality version of the run I'm trying to put together for Daredevil. It was extremely high quality, full of pedigrees and stretched from the Silver Age to the recent past.

That's my kind of run.

As an aside, I've been buying some selected Avengers over the past few years and I ended up bidding on a number of books from the collection. I won four new pedigree books from the copper age (three Rocky Mountains and one Mass. copy) Not my greatest haul, but fun, nonetheless.

I was interested in the price realized for the entire (#1 in the CGC registry, by the way) set, so I reached out to ComicConnect for a total on this phenomenal run. Just the volume 1 Avengers title, including bound volume, sold for nearly $480,000.

Not too shabby!

The circumstances were unfortunate, but seeing this incredible collection sold in this manner has been fun.
