I haven't had time to properly preview/review/look at/comment on any of these auctions. I'm going to try to quick hit them over the next week or so, to make sure you've got some perspective on this incredibly busy month in the hobby. Tonight I'm going to share one highlight from each auction. I'll probably pick off one or two more books a day for the next few days.
Action Comics #1 CGC 5.0 at ComicConnect
Is this a $1,000,000 book? How many $1,000,000 comics are there now? There will come a time much sooner than anyone could have ever imagined where every unrestored copy of Action #1 is a $1,000,000 book. This hobby is crazy.
Hake's – "DAREDEVIL" #111 COMIC BOOK COVER ORIGINAL ART BY RON WILSON.
We know about the Detective #27. I'll be sure to talk about that a couple of times between now and when the auction ends. Beyond that, there's a bunch of interesting stuff in the auction, including this cool (and historic) Daredevil cover.
Comic Link : ACTION COMICS #242, CGC 8.0 VF
Cool book, right?
John Romita Sr. and Frank Giacoia Amazing Spider-Man #100 Cover | Lot #92203 | Heritage Auctions
Sometimes the most obvious lot is the best lot. Where does this one end? Does it take over the top spot for Heritage original art? I think it should. Including underground art, the record is $717,000. Looking at just mainstream comics, the record is $657,250. For my money, I'd rather have this cover over anything by Crumb, the McFarlane cover or the Wolverine panel page. Where will this end up? Well see soon enough.
