For sale in this auction is the comic that has been the centerpiece of my personal comic book collection for years, Marvel Comics 1 CGC 7.0 F/VF with Off-White to White pages! This comic was published in 1939 and is now 70 years old!!!!
Marvel Comics 1 is the first Timely comic book to be distributed on the newsstand and is currently the 3rd most valuable comic book in the Overstreet guide with a NM- value of $460,000!!!! To date, of the 45 copies of this comic that have been certified by CGC only 4 Unrestored and 6 restored copies grade higher than this one! Please note that this particular copy has been professionally restored. The CGC label reads "color touch, pieces added, tear seals, cleaned, reinforced."
Perhaps the best thing about this particular copy is the absolutely incredible eye appeal this comic has for a F/VF. The reason I built my collection around this copy is that it is free of any major defects. From an eye appeal standpoint the other 7.0-7.5s on the census just simply do not compare to this one. Not to mention this book is perfectly centered, has bright blue colors (not gray like some copies) and has Off-white to White pages!!! This is one of those books that if it were unrestored and looked like this would've probably graded several grades higher! You would likely need to spend close to $200,000 to buy an unrestored copy with nicer eye appeal than this one! I don't think its a stretch to say that in this price range you will never find another copy that looks as nice as this one. For the longest time I didn't think I'd ever part with this comic, but I recently had the opportunity to upgrade to the Allentown copy and now unfortunately this one needs to go. (This is the first time in over FIVE YEARS that a restored 7.0 Marvel 1 has been made available for sale in a public auction!)
