I've been getting a lot of extra traffic today because of this story

Near-Mint Comic Featuring Batman's Debut, Worth $250,000, Found in Pennsylvania Attic

I've been poking around the CGC Forums a little bit so I'll have to poke in there and see if there's any real news about the condition. Obviously a truly Near Mint copy of Detective #27 would be worth well in excess of $250,000. Considering the 8.0 sold for more than that half a decade ago, a new high grade copy would cause a firestorm in the hobby- especially if it was actually in the 9.4 range and could therefore challenge the Allentown as top dog (which in turn would bring the current owner of the Allentown into the picture as an interested party.)

My guess is it's really a 7.5 or 8.0 and that estimate is actually reasonable.

edited to add:

OR it's a total scam and isn't worth 1/10th of the state price…

Awesomeness. Trimmed books, a pieced together collection- the classic ebay story played out across national headlines… The lesson here? If it's too good to be true, it probably is. The second lesson? Get that book graded!
