So I'm wondering…

If, as I thought, the end of the era of big ticket crossing the boards every month is over. With the end of the JP experiment now fully in the rear view mirror, I'm struck, when looking through the latest Heritage catalog, by the lack of blockbuster books. Sure, there's hardly a GA key book missing, but they're seemingly all restored. There are no high grade, unrestored keys. Compare that to any of their auctions from earlier in the decade where there was at least one book every auction that was a complete head turner.

If it is truly over then some of the sales that have gone over the past few years actually start to look really appealing. I'm not the biggest fan of Marvel Comics #1, but even some of those sales look like true bargains now. If, after another two or three years of this, one of those 8.0-9.0 Marvel comics #1s comes back out of hiding it will suddenly look a lot more appealing than it did the first time around.

Thoughts?
