This is the super quick version.
Marvel Comics #1 Pay Copy (Timely, 1939) CGC VF/NM 9.0 Off-white pages. Obviously the book I'm most curious about. Will it end up in Geppi's museum? That's probably the best place for it. What will he have to pay for the pleasure? Who else is there to make a run at it? Whatever way it goes it will say something about the state of the hobby at the highest level.
Marvel Mystery Comics #2 (Timely, 1939) CGC VF/NM 9.0 White pages. Ho hum. Just another $30-40,000 book. I really feel like this auction is going to represent the end of this insane stretch we've had over the past several years. It started off with people trotting out top books to sell TO JP and for the past couple of years we've had JP unloading the fruits of his labor. After this, things almost have to calm down.
Namora #1 Vancouver pedigree (Timely, 1948) CGC NM/MT 9.8 White pages. Is this the "best" Vancouver book? The best convergence of title and grade? If so, how many superior Church books are there in terms of importance and collector excitement? 500? 1000? That's why ANY talk comparing this collection (as nice as it is condition-wise) to the Church find is RIDICULOUS. Vancouver shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath.
Witness #1 Vancouver pedigree (Marvel, 1948) CGC NM 9.4 White pages. Has Marvel ever revived The Witness?
Gotta run. Next? Page 18 and the Gaines File Copies (that never sell.)
