A young man bought everyone of these stunning comics from the same newsstand from 14 years old to 35 years old any read them once carefully and placed them inside plastic in groups of 10 and wrapped them tight. We had the honor of being the ones to open them this year. These early Marvels have not seen the light of day for almost 50 years. Check this one out. Only 1 copy grades higher than this monster example of the landmark 1st meeting of the Hulk and the Thing. We are not sure why this beautiful copy with vivid colors and razor sharp edges only got a 9.4, we are struggling to find a visible defect anywhere. To me, this is the era you want for George Perez. This is when I remember him being at his best. He's remained really good, of course, but his work in the early to mid 1980s was so damn "big."

Michael Turner Original art Ballistic Issue #3 pg23-24

Turner really burst onto the scene back in the day. This page, from his first series, shows why. He worked in a popular style, but managed to have his own flourishes that really set him apart. He also had a great design sense. Oh, and he was a solid artist. He was stylized, certainly, but underneath everything he could really draw. That set him apart from a lot of guys that were starting out back then.

He's missed.

Not a bad looking copy. Technically not all that high grade, but it presents really well. Will make someone very happy, I think.

As a note, for me personally, this is one of the toughest auctions in recent memory in terms of knowing where to place my bids. I could probably bid on 50 books in this auction. I've got it narrowed down to probably six, but it's hard to choose.

Sigh.

I'd like to see the 9.8, but… that sure is a pretty copy.

Based on the above listing the consignor of the Curator copy just got the 9.8. Upgrading from a 9.6, pedigree copy. How often does that happen?
