Five for Friday (Bryan Hitch, Wonder Woman #2, Milo Manara, Michael Golden)

Hitch/Guice – NEW AVENGERS FINALE Art WOLVERINE Splash

Hitch doesn't reproduce well on the internet any more. The textures of his work, especially with Guice inking, are too small for pixels to deal with. this piece is likely a stunner in person.

High eBay Comics Item for the Week Ending 2010.9.11 (X-Men #1)

X-men 1 CGC 9.0 VF/NM 1st app X-men & Magneto

Filter81 does it again.

Winning bid: US $23,200.00 Seller: filter81(803)

Description:

In this auction you are bidding on X-men 1 CGC 9.0 VF/NM with Off-white pages published by Marvel Comics in 1963. This issue features the 1st appearance and origins of the X-men and Magneto! This issue is in such high demand that copies like this are rarely offered for sale publicly in high grade, and a CGC 9.0 ranks this copy in the top 3% of all copies ever submitted to CGC!

The last two CGC 9.0s to sell publicly sold for $28,000 and $28,680 respectively. And with the X-men: First Class movie (centering around the origins of the X-men and Magneto) as well as Wolverine 2 both due out in 2011, in a year from now those prices will in all likelihood look like bargains! Don't miss out on an opportunity to add this mega-key to your collection before prices jump yet again!

Due to its high value, purchasing Insurance will be mandatory on this particular auction!

X-men 1 CGC 9.0 VF/NM 1963 1st app X-men & Magneto

Filter does it again and he just misses the ebay record list.

Winning bid: US $25,100.00 Seller: filter81 ( 734 )

Description:

In this auction you are bidding on X-men 1 CGC 9.0 VF/NM. This issue features the 1st appearance of the X-men and Magneto! This is the comic that started an entire franchise! This issue is very difficult to find in high grade (and its even more difficult trying to find someone willing to sell a copy in high grade) and this copy currently ranks in the top 2% of all X-men 1s graded by CGC!

According to GPA, the last time a CGC 9.0 sold in public auction was for $33,333 in August '09. (Though another 9.0 sold more recently on a private website for $37,500!)

With X-men: First Class (centered around the origin of the X-men and Magneto) due to hit Theaters in 2012, this comic is about to get hot! And with Wolverine 2 and X-men 4 already in the planning stages after that, the X-men franchise looks like it will continue to be in the spotlight for years to come. With the 1st appearance of Spider-man already selling for well over 6 figures in similar grade, the value of this book has nowhere to go but up!

Heritage November 2009 Auction- 12 Lots of Note.

I went through the catalog yesterday. I limited myself to picking twelve lots of interest to share with you guys. It was tough because this is an auction full of some interesting material. The Joe Kubert lots themselves could have produced a decent set of 12 items to ogle.

hulk1-cgc-9.2

The Incredible Hulk #1 (Marvel, 1962) CGC NM- 9.2

This is clearly the book of the auction. I don't get excited easily by Silver Age marvels, but this book brings a smile to my face. It's tough to find in high grade and it's the HULK.

Hulk smash!

As of this writing it sits at $45,000. Still plenty of room for a thrill bid, I think.
