A copy reportedly from an original owner collection. Looks like a well-loved collection. I like seeing those almost as much as I like seeing the obsessive condition freaks because I love the idea that people just read these things to death.

There are a lot of Daredevil #1s available right now. Really nice ones. Hopefully Filter will get a good price for his. Clearly people in the market for a 9.6 aren't going to go after a 9.2 so he's probably got a shot.

Not the best Sandman page…. BUT, it's a page from #1. That's pretty cool.

I'll never tire of Hulk #1. Apaprently neither will collectors.

This won't sell for what it should. Showcase #4 needs to see some of the love that Showcase #22 has seen over the past few years so that it can get it's rightful place near the top of the Silver Age tables back. It's never going to tbe the #1 book again, or even #2, but it should be a strong #3.

SUPERMAN #1 CGC 2.0

It'll be interesting to compare results on this and Heritage's copy.

This is clearly the book of the auction. I don't get excited easily by Silver Age marvels, but this book brings a smile to my face. It's tough to find in high grade and it's the HULK.

As of this writing it sits at $45,000. Still plenty of room for a thrill bid, I think.

Easily one of the top five covers of all time, Superman 14 is a great "slab" book and this copy appears to present extremely well. Hopefully it goes to a good home.

A Flessel covered, early Detective from the Edgar Church collection in an almost supernatural state of preservation? You need me to expand on that?

I would love to see the reaction of this book at one of the larger CGC forum dinners. It would be like feeding time at the shark tank. People would line up to get a peek.

Showcase #22 Green Lantern (DC, 1959) CGC VF/NM 9.0

A $30,000 book? $50,000? An 8.0 sold for nearly $20,000 recently, so what does this, one of the three highest graded, sell for?

And what would a 9.2+ do right now? If someone is sitting on a pristine cop of this book, now is the time to bring it to market.

A 9.4 would be a $100k book.

Bernie Wrightson Eerie #62 Cousin Eerie Inside Front Cover

Wrightson's Eerie work is incredible. These days it's not as appreciated as his work for DC, but it's just incredible stuff. This is a prime example.

Joe Kubert Star Spangled War Stories #156 Unknown Soldier Hitler Mask Cover Original Art

A very memorable cover for me. It was tough to pick just one Kubert item to feature, but this one is so striking it won the race.

Bernie Wrightson Frankenstein Published Plate Illustration Original Art

An original Frankenstein plate. Those make me sit up and take notice. Not the greatest plate from the book, but considering the fact that each one if basically a masterpiece, even the "worst" plate in the book is something to cherish. This would be a great Christmas gift for me, just in case you were wondering.

An instantly recognizable image for me. I was a big Thor fan for a little while when I was a kid, so I've got about the first 10 issues committed to memory.

Alex Ross Marvels Trade Paperback Painted Cover Original Art

I don't even like Spider-Man all that much and I absolutely love this cover. That's due to Ross and the Marvels association, of course- it's a phenomenal image for the trade cover. Perfect, really.

John Buscema and Dan Adkins Sub-Mariner #8 Sub-Mariner vs. the Thing Cover Original Art

A memorable battle cover. I love the image of the Thing- especially the way his hand obscures the logo.

Dave Cockrum and Terry Austin X-Men #125 Cover Original Art

I forget how good this run was. And then I see a cover like this and I remember back to being a kid and reading this stuff for the first time. Brilliant superhero comics.

Ron Wilson and John Romita Sr. Avengers #125 Cover Original Art

I've always loved this cover. It screams "Bronze Age Marvel" to me- in a good way. I love the menace of Thanos in this image.

I'm also a sucker for the Cosmic Marvel characters in general.

Showcase #4 The Flash (DC, 1956) CGC NM+ 9.6 White pages. Surely the best Silver Age comic book Heritage has ever offered at auction, this copy is a serious contender for the most desirable copy of any Silver Age comic. If you leave Marvel aside and consider only DC books, we will commit to saying that there's nothing to top this.

In terms of historical significance, few books can hold a candle to Showcase #4 — it introduced a new superhero at a time when only Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman had their own titles (and not a single superhero was being published at Atlas/Marvel after that firm's failed revival attempt a couple of years previously). As Paul Kupperberg noted, "frankly, anything would have been a welcome relief from the tedium of the day, when Superman was pitted against gangsters in suits and Batman fought aliens in outer space."

Though all of the creators involved (editor Julius Schwartz, writer Robert Kanigher, penciler Carmine Infantino, and inker Joe Kubert) had worked on the Golden Age Flash Comics title in some capacity, it was agreed to create a new Flash character rather than attempting a revival… and the target audience for comics was too young to remember the older series anyway. Even a reference to the old series showing a copy of Flash Comics #13 went over readers' heads — Gary Carter noted that that panel was "the first time I ever saw the Golden Age Flash as a child. At the time though, I had no idea it was a 'real' comic book, so to speak."

The new Flash, Barry Allen, not only had a sleek look unlike any costume seen in the Golden Age, the art style was exciting and new, courtesy of Carmine Infantino. The character was a hit, and three more Showcase appearances and his own series would soon follow.

A beautifully unblemished copy front and back, as are the others in this amazing run.
