More photos from the show later. For now, this is what I bought:

How I Do What I Do

Beyond hitting up all the amazing people in the hobby for personal knowledge, I keep a reasonable research library around here. One that I'm always adding to. This is what I've got right now:

catalogs

guides

Still looking for a couple of Overstreets (1,2 and I can't find my #5,) but beyond that I'm hunting for some of the smaller catalogs (All Star, etc.) and am looking into putting together a full collection of Comic Book Marketplace…

Beauty and the Beast

These both arrived today:

Yes, a GD- (according to Heritage, at least) Green Lantern #1 next to a gorgeous Pacific Coast Green Lantern 42. Quite a pair.

I'll be reading the GL #1 tonight.

A Sweet Hardcover Copy of the Best Comic Series of All Time (No, It's Not Watchmen)

This is a nice looking little book.

lone-wolf-and-cub

And yeah, Lone Wolf and Cub just might be the best comic series I've ever read. This is an extremely limited edition Dark Horse put out to commemorate the release of the series.

Speaking of Pairs

I won two books on Sunday night for roughly the same price:

Green Lantern #1 (DC, 1960) Condition: GD-

and

Green Lantern #42 CGC 9.2 Pacific Coast

I'm happy with both purchases. I've never actually owned a Green Lantern #1. That won't be my last copy, of course. I'm going to need a high grade copy to round out the run I've started working on, so there's be something a little more expensive in my future. Still I love #1s and keys so even a beater GL #1 is nice to have.

Show and Tell- Green Lantern 72

I just picked up this book. I've started looking at Silver Age Green Lanterns again. I feel like I'm in a little bit of a race against time with them because talk persists about a Green Lantern movie. Hopefully I'll be able to do my run (1-89 + the Showcase books) before they blow up.

Hertitage vs. CGC

Obviously this isn't a "pure" best sampling since I bought these with a discerning eye and obviously assumed these books would grade pretty well to send them in in the first place, but it's still interesting to compare the Heritage raw grades versus the CGC grades for some of the books in my latest submission (which came back this morning):

House of Mystery #186 and 189 Group (DC, 1970) Condition: Average VF

Came back: House of Mystery #189 CGC 8.5

hom189

Firehair Comics #10 Mile High pedigree (Fiction House, 1951) Condition: VF-

Came back: Firehair Comics #10 CGC 6.5

firehair10

Green Lantern #12 (DC, 1962) Condition: FN/VF

Came back: Green Lantern #12 CGC 7.5

gl12

Green Lantern #14 (DC, 1962) Condition: VF-

Came back: Green Lantern #14 CGC 7.5

gl14

Green Lantern #16 (DC, 1962) Condition: FN/VF

Came back: Green Lantern #16 CGC 7.5

gl16

Green Lantern Group (#59 (FN/VF))

Came back: Green Lantern #59 CGC 8.5

gl591

The only one I'm disappointed in is the House of Mystery. I thought it was at least 9.0. Otherwise, I'm pleased with this submission.

In case you're wondering, I'll be posting the rest of the books later on today.

Merry Christmas to Me…

I just got a box back from CGC and I'm basically 90% pleased with the results. The other 10% are only a slight disappointment, so it's really one of the best submissions I've ever sent down to Florida…

Check the evidence.

I'm especially excited about the Daredevil 146 and 148 35 cent variants. The 146 is highest graded and the 148 is second highest, so, if I decide to sell them, they should do pretty well for me.

Edited to add:

The books are listed. Let's see how they do :)
