Heritage Auction Generates Two New Members of the $100,000 Club

From the "better late than never" department, the latest Heritage auction produced two new official members of the $100,000 club.

The The Incredible Hulk #1 CGC NM- 9.2 sold for  $125,475.00 and the Amazing Fantasy #15 Biljo White Copy (Marvel, 1962) CGC VF+ 8.5 sold for $104,562.50.

Now I just need to update the actual list…

Heritage November 2009 Auction- 12 Lots of Note.

I went through the catalog yesterday. I limited myself to picking twelve lots of interest to share with you guys. It was tough because this is an auction full of some interesting material. The Joe Kubert lots themselves could have produced a decent set of 12 items to ogle.

The Incredible Hulk #1 (Marvel, 1962) CGC NM- 9.2

This is clearly the book of the auction. I don't get excited easily by Silver Age marvels, but this book brings a smile to my face. It's tough to find in high grade and it's the HULK.

Hulk smash!

As of this writing it sits at $45,000. Still plenty of room for a thrill bid, I think.

Two bids. That's a lot of money for a two bid auction. Although that figure is only 68% of the high price paid for a 9.8 this year
($26,200). Looking at GPA this book has been all over the place. Selling for as high as $26,200 and as low as $15,000 over the past two years. Yikes!

THE INCREDIBLE HIULK # 1…THE WHITE MOUNTAIN COPY. What more needs to be said? One of the Keyest of Key books. This book has WHITE PAGES as per the OLD CGC (and some say back then they played by a much more strict set of grading rules). This book grades VF 8.0 so it is one of the top graded books. As with most WHITE MOUNTAIN PEDIGREE BOOKS there is a written year (date) on the cover… this one is no different. The AF 15, Spidey 1 as well as the FF1 all sold at record or near record prices from this ultimate Silver age Pedigree collection. The INCREDIBLE HULK is the only NUMBER 1 from the WHITE MOUNTAIN COLLECTION that is actually AVAILABLE and NOT tide up with some big name auction house that will stick you for another 20 PER CENT upon obtaining the winning bid.

DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS KEY BOOK FROM THE MOST SIGNIFICANT COLLECTION OF SILVER AGE BOOKS EVER….I PRESENT:

THE INCREDIBLE HULK # 1 FROM THE WHITE MOUNTAIN COLLECTION….now there is a very cool bragging right for a Silver-Age collector!!!! A true Super-key book.

Speaking of Hulk #1s… The White Mountain Copy? On eBay?

THE INCREDIBLE HULK # 1 1962 CGC VF WHITE PAGES

I think I know what will win the top eBay item next week. It might even break into the all time eBay list…

While I've got you here, anyone know where the White Mountain Daredevil #1 is?

We're 5k away from a new $100,000 book

The Comiclink listed INCREDIBLE HULK #1 CGC NM 9.2 Northland, is at $95,000 (as of this writing) and I wouldn't bet against it moving well past the magical 100k mark in short order.

The great crash is here!

Oh, wait a minute. Just the opposite is happening…

Does the string continue? Does Hulk #1 crack 100k in 9.2?

ComicLink sayeth:

"Auction Estimate = $90,000-$120,000"

With their recent track record I can't say I doubt them.

That said, if that book sells for $100,000 I'm going to feel like I'm starting over from scratch because all of my numbers will be flipped on their respective heads. With all of the incredibly healthy recent results piling on top of one another it's like a new hobby. I stepped away from the day to day grind for a year or so (which isn't to say I wasn't paying attention- I was, just not as closely) and now everything feels like it's twice as strong as it was just 12-18 months ago. During the period of JP's sell-off, things like the Church Flash #1 selling for a 75k loss felt like victory because it wasn't a total embarrassment for the hobby like the thud of the Pay Copy selling for barely sixty cents on JP's dollar. Now? We've got six figure books doubling their "reasonable" estimates.

Crazy.

Good crazy :) But definitely crazy…
