ACTION COMICS #3

_____________________

CGC *1.8* (1938)

_____________________________________

ACTION COMICS is the ground-breaking comic book series that, starting with Issue #1 (Summer 1938), introduced us to SUPERMAN, the FIRST major comic book “Super-Hero” character as the term is popularly defined today.

This auction features an original first print of ACTION COMICS #3, published in pre-WWII August 1938, still in remarkable condition after 72+ YEARS– In what is just his THIRD appearance EVER, the now legendary SUPERMAN, the first true comic book “Super-Hero,” would eventually go on to become a world-renown American pop culture icon.

An invaluable piece of comic book history, the present ACTION COMICS #3, was published one full year before the now equally legendary debut of the Man of Steel’s standalone series, “SUPERMAN” (DC 1939).

Marvel Mystery Annual #nn CGC 6.5 SINGLE HIGHEST GRADED Timely Human Torch

This offering is one of true rarity and is a Gerber "10" for scarcity. Less than 10 copies of this 128 page Timely Annual issued in Canada are believed to exist. This is the SINGLE HIGHEST GRADCED COPY on the census and comes fresh from the Quebec Collection. Some minor wear near the upper left corner of the back cover and a faint crease near that spine that is only noticeable at the right angle keep the technical grade lower. This example looks VF dead on and has such a pretty spine. We doubt a nicer copy exists anywhere known or not. Pages are supple and smell fresh and the covers are still glossy. This rare gem should bring a multiple of guide and will most likely be coveted by most high grade Timely collectors. Auction Estimate: $65,000+

Detective Comics #31 CGC 4.0 All-time Classic Cover 3rd Batman Cover OW/WHITE

Considered by many as maybe the best Batman cover of all-time, this classic cover by Bob Kane features a larger than life image of Batman in the night rising behind a castle on a lonely hill. This unforgettable image is just one of the reasons this issue is so high on just about every Dark Night and golden age collector's list. Another reason is the fact that this is only Batman's 3rd cover appearance and this issue is the first the the Batp[lane appears. A strong majority of the known copies are restored so having a solid unrestored copy at auction with off-white to white pages is a rare treat. Demand for pre_robin tecs is at an allt-ime high and we expected a frenzy of bidding. Auction estimate is $25,000 +
