High eBay Comics Item for the Week Ending 2010.7.31 (Bernie Wrightson Meat Loaf Album Cover)

Bernie Wrightson MEAT LOAF ALBUM COVER Original Art '79

Quite a piece…

Sold For: US $37,000.00 Seller: romitaman ( 1014 )

Description:

MEAT LOAF RECORD ALBUM COVER PAINTING (1979)

Media Type: Painting
Art Type: Cover

Artist(s): Bernie Wrightson (all)

WOW! Just feast your eyes on not only the "LARGEST" but arguably the best actual painting Bernie Wrightson ever created! (Not pen and ink with watercolors dropped in as he did on most of his color pieces)…And this masterpiece is most likely the largest painting he EVER CREATED, with an actual art image measuring…31 by 31 inches, and it's framed beautifully! Bernie Wrightson had some HUGE shoes to fill as he was following up Richard Corben's CLASSIC painting cover to the WIDELY successful "Bat Out Of Hell" record album cover painting. THIS record album painting ALSO features the same blond haired "CONAN-LIKE" character from the BAT OUT OF HELL record album cover, but this cover also features 3 beautiful nude women riding on the MONSTER MOTORCYCLE with the Conan-like character as they ride on top of the water while one of the nude women and the male character hold a HUGE banner which I of course reads: "MEAT LOAF" which is promoting the DEAD RINGER record album! So what we ultimately have here is the actual record album cover to meat loaf's second LP album entitled "DEAD RINGER!!" As far as size…….This amazing HUGE piece is close to 1 1/2 to twice the size of anything Wrightson has ever drawn of any significance!…and the quality is far superior…. This is arguably the best Wrightson painting EVER! RUMOR has it that meat loaf bought this painting directly from Wrightson. Meatloaf supposedly sold it when he went bankrupt in the early 80's and the collector who bought it from him had it since then….This painting was done around 1979 about the same time as the Frankenstein plates….But the album got delayed and didn't appear on record stands until 1981. In terms of technique, it's arguably the best painting he ever did….keep in mind… this was done for an "LP cover" for one of the biggest rock artists of THAT time! If you want to own a TRUE piece of Bernie Wrightson, AND "MUSIC" history…….. You REALLY shouldn't pass up this most AMAZING PAINTING! ALL HIGH end pieces of art, including this one, are able to be purchased with VERY fair time payment plan options, and trades are always considered towards this and any other pieces of art on my site here! Just send me an email and we can try to work something out.

I will probably regret it when in following years it goes for $40K or more like all other silver age books. Xmen#1 now at this price and was $9k, AF#15 sky-rocketed to $100K, ASM#1 over $30K, this is just another under priced Gem.

Called CGC (1877-NM-COMIC) and the notes:Tiny stress on spine,Tiny line abrasions along edges,

Tiny chip on lower back cover and Date stamp on cover. No problem found on interior.

1st Appearance of Iron Man 1963

BLUE LABEL UNRESTORED NO QUALIFIERS

NO MARVEL CHIPPING ANYWHERE

Movie in MAY has made the popularity of Iron-man go up. This will only drive the price up. It is still under priced as for Silver Age high grade first appearance goes.

Proof is in what happened in the past when the first Iron Man movie came

out and it more than doubled in price. Also, what happened to AF#15 after the movies, skyrocketed in price. So why am I selling, I am making money and selling below the futures price, need to consolidate some bills and fixing my home.

SUPER KEY ISSUE! NOT MANY LEFT IN THE WORLD!

VERY HIGH DEMAND & VERY LOW SUPPLY

HUGE INVESTMENT POTENTIAL

Make me an offer and see if it can WIN IT!!

Seller's Grading Comments: New Movie on the way and this will sky rocket again. Invest now and have a solid return of 30% to 50%, maybe allot more.
