CGC *1.8* (1938)

_____________________________________

ACTION COMICS is the ground-breaking comic book series that, starting with Issue #1 (Summer 1938), introduced us to SUPERMAN, the FIRST major comic book “Super-Hero” character as the term is popularly defined today.

This auction features an original first print of ACTION COMICS #3, published in pre-WWII August 1938, still in remarkable condition after 72+ YEARS– In what is just his THIRD appearance EVER, the now legendary SUPERMAN, the first true comic book “Super-Hero,” would eventually go on to become a world-renown American pop culture icon.

An invaluable piece of comic book history, the present ACTION COMICS #3, was published one full year before the now equally legendary debut of the Man of Steel’s standalone series, “SUPERMAN” (DC 1939).

Description:

DECEMBER OLD GOLD AUCTION

A wide array of rare and high grade CGCs from 1934 to 1943. Original Owner comics will refer to the original collection in the subtitle. This Auction will consist of 2 sessions and will last 10 days, Part I Thursday December 1st to Sunday 11th, Part II will post Saturday December 3rd To Tuesday December 13th .

Have fun bidding and good luck in the auction.

Marvel Mystery Annual #nn CGC 6.5 SINGLE HIGHEST GRADED Timely Human Torch

This offering is one of true rarity and is a Gerber "10" for scarcity. Less than 10 copies of this 128 page Timely Annual issued in Canada are believed to exist. This is the SINGLE HIGHEST GRADCED COPY on the census and comes fresh from the Quebec Collection. Some minor wear near the upper left corner of the back cover and a faint crease near that spine that is only noticeable at the right angle keep the technical grade lower. This example looks VF dead on and has such a pretty spine. We doubt a nicer copy exists anywhere known or not. Pages are supple and smell fresh and the covers are still glossy. This rare gem should bring a multiple of guide and will most likely be coveted by most high grade Timely collectors. Auction Estimate: $65,000+

Description:

THE SAGINAW COLLECTION

Hailing from Saginaw Michigan, this original owner collections features complete runs of most major Marvel Titles in astonishing condition. Once collectors get their hands on these ultra high grade books, they will be amazed by the vivid deep colors on the covers and the white interior pages. When we first held these books, it became clear that this is what silver age marvels looked like the day they hit the newsstand. A young man bought everyone of these stunning comics from the same newsstand from 14 years old to 35 years old any read them once carefully and placed them inside plastic in groups of 10 and wrapped them tight. We had the honor of being the ones to open them this year. These early Marvels have not seen the light of day for almost 50 years. Unlike some of the other great Silver Age pedigree collections, the Saginaw collection will be offered on EBAY exclusively with No Reserve.

Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC 8.5 White Origin & 1st Amazing Spider-Man KEY HIGH GRADE

Hold on to your seats, we have a stunning fresh to market Saginaw copy of the Holy Grail of silver age comics, Amazing Fantasy #15. The deep and bold colors and gloss will simply blow you away. Remember, this copy has been sealed away from light since the 1960s and not taken out even once. The pages are BONE WHITE and the overall structure is in the near mint range. Some very minor, tiny stress lines and a light crease near the bottom edge are what pull this copy down just a bit. Bidding is sure to be fast and furious on this original owner beast. Origin and 1st appearance of Spider-Man (Peter Parker). 1st appearance of Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Stan Lee story. Steve Ditko art. Jack Kirby cover. Serial number 1054830001

Sold For:$38,100.00 Seller: sparklecitycomics (43404)

Description:

Avengers #4 CGC 9.6 *HIGHEST GRADED* 1st SA Captain America Marvel Silver Age

Highest Graded copy of the1st Silver Age appearance of Captain America. If not for a small drop of color loss in the lower left corner this smoker may have been a 9.8. Simply beautiful and a book you can stare at all day. CGC gave this example a Cream to Off-White designation but when we looked at the interior pages they seemed to be completely off-white. Regardless, this is a rare chance to get an original owner highest graded copy of this Key issue. Sub-Mariner appearance. Stan Lee story. Jack Kirby and George Roussos cover and art. Serial number 1053545003

Here's a Spider-man book I'd actually want to own although at the price this will get, I'm not sure I'd want to pony up for this one.

Detective Comics #327 (DC, 1964) CGC NM/MT 9.8 White pages

Look at this thing:

I don't know why I've never actively collected Flash books. I've always been focusing on something else I guess. Great book.

Showcase #4 The Flash – Bethlehem pedigree (DC, 1956) CGC VF/NM 9.0

There it is, one of my favorite books ever.

Stay tuned, hopefully I'll find time for Part 2 and 3 before this auction goes off.
