Five for Friday (Virgil Finlay, Whiz #2, Jim Lee, Blood is the Harvest, Strange Adventures #2)

VIRGIL FINLAY ORIGINAL, SIGNED (Amazing Stories) VG

If you're not familiar with Finlay, get familiar. You'll be glad that you did.

Whiz Comics #2 (#1) cgc 6.0 un-restored !

It's not the book it once was, but it's still a crazy book to see on eBay.

BATMAN 617 PAGE 18 BY JIM LEE AND SCOTT WILLIAMS!

A memorable page from one of the most memorable Batman runs of the past 10 years.

BLOOD IS THE HARVEST CGC 5.0 Anti-Communist 1950

How often has this book shown up on eBay?

STRANGE ADVENTURES #2 CGC 8.5 DC Comics 1950

Not that this is the most hotly collected title, but this is another book you don't see all that often.

Highlights from the Latest Heritage Signature Auction Part 1

Twin Cities Books

The Atom #3 Twin Cities pedigree (DC, 1962) CGC NM 9.4

If you've read any of these you know of my affinity for green covers.

Wonder Woman #178 Twin Cities pedigree (DC, 1968) CGC NM+ 9.6

Green psychedelic covers? Where do those sit on my personal scale? Pretty damn high.

The Avengers #57 Twin Cities pedigree (Marvel, 1968) CGC NM/MT 9.8

I'm cool with this book. It's got a lot going for it. The Vision is a cool character (he's one of "my" Avengers,) the Spectre homage is cool and who doesn't love the Avengers?

Batman #200 Twin Cities pedigree (DC, 1968) CGC NM/MT 9.8

This is a dopey cover AND I LOVE IT.

Batman #227 Twin Cities pedigree (DC, 1970) CGC NM/MT 9.8

This is the complete opposite of a dopey cover. CLEARLY.

Silver Age

Action Comics #252 (DC, 1959) CGC VF/NM 9.0 Cream to off-white pages

A fun book to me.

Adventure Comics #247 (DC, 1958) CGC VF/NM 9.0 Off-white to white pages

I want this to be a hot book. I don't know why.

The Amazing Spider-Man #28 (Marvel, 1965) CGC NM+ 9.6 Off-white pages

What's the value here? We saw $15,000 for Pacific Coast 3-4 years ago. This book boggles my (non-Spider-Man collecting) mind.

The Amazing Spider-Man #50 (Marvel, 1967) CGC NM/MT 9.8 White pages

Here's a Spider-man book I'd actually want to own although at the price this will get, I'm not sure I'd want to pony up for this one.

Detective Comics #327 (DC, 1964) CGC NM/MT 9.8 White pages

Look at this thing:

The Flash #105 (DC, 1959) CGC NM 9.4

I don't know why I've never actively collected Flash books. I've always been focusing on something else I guess. Great book.

Showcase #4 The Flash – Bethlehem pedigree (DC, 1956) CGC VF/NM 9.0

There it is, one of my favorite books ever.

Stay tuned, hopefully I'll find time for Part 2 and 3 before this auction goes off.

Five for Friday (Darwyn Cooke, Wrightson, Finch, Wonder Woman #1, Famous Funnies #1)

Wonder Woman #1, CGC 9.0 Restored Grade, Summer 1942

You know I'm a big Wonder Woman fan, so if a copy of #1 ends up on eBay I'm going to feature it here.

FAMOUS FUNNIES #1 CGC 6.5 Unrestored Fine+ 1934 Rare!

A "Rare!" book that's actually pretty rare. What an odd book to see just show up on eBay.

###DAVID FINCH MOON KNIGHT #3 COVER###

This is a pretty memorable cover. Great design work.

# BERNI WRIGHTSON LARGE ORIGINIAL BATMAN ILLUSTRATION#

Wrightson turned into a "batman" guy at some point. I wish he'd drawn the character regularly in the 1970s. That would have been a magical combination for collectors.

DARWYN COOKE~ORIGINAL ART~PAINTING~SMOKIN'…LITERALLY

And finally… DARWYN COOKE IS THE MAN. BOOOOOOOM.

Five for Friday (Mike Mayhew, Mike Turner Batman, Fin Fang Foom, Star Wars Dark Empire, Alex Ross)

Batman by Michael Turner Original Ink Sketch RARE!

Todd McFARLANE Detective #576 BATMAN YR 2 Battle Pg NR!

While Year 2 is no Year 1, I do have a soft-spot for the work McFarlane did on this series.

High Value eBay Comics Auction For the Week Ending 2011.4.16

Detective Comics #35 (January 1940) Complete Low Grade

Sold For:$5,101.00 Seller: albotz (274)

Description:

Detective Comics #35

Classic Hypodermic Needle Cover
Classic Batman with Gun Splash Panel

Grade: Very Low Grade. 100% original and complete. Pages are cream to off-white. Covers are detached and split. First wrap was detached but reattached with a minor amount of glue at the staple area. Other than the minor glue mentioned reattaching the first wrap there is NO other "restoration." Overall the comic has general wear. Back cover has 1 moderate size piece missing on the back right cover near the spine area that goes down a good length of the spine. Best way to describe it is the "yellow left margin" at the very right most portion of the comic is missing a piece that is smaller width wise but longer length size that goes about a few spaces past half way on the back (from the top to 2/3's down)
